Identify whether an image has the wrong proportions, an unsuitable crop or too little detail before replacing it. This guide gives owners a practical repair brief and bilingual mobile acceptance checks.

## Separate a changed shape from a missing edge or a soft picture

Stretching changes a subject's proportions. Cropping removes part of a proportional picture. Blur means detail is inadequate or degraded. A narrow phone mockup, cropped project photograph and blurry logo therefore need different repairs; increasing file size will not fix a distorted layout.

Start with one affected page and the approved original image. Record the page language, device or viewport, browser and exact symptom. Compare the original with what the page displays. If the original already contains the distortion, changing CSS cannot reconstruct the correct photograph. If it looks correct outside the page, investigate the layout and the actual file selected by the browser.

## Use three different examples to classify the repair

These hypothetical assets have different purposes; their dimensions are illustrative. Record the source, displayed area and important subject together. A developer cannot judge the intended crop from a filename alone.

Illustrative image diagnosis and acceptance matrix

| Asset and symptom | Evidence to inspect | Likely repair direction | Acceptance check |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1200 × 800 equipment photo looks tall in a 360 × 360 box | Source ratio 3:2; displayed content appears forced to 1:1 | Preserve the ratio; choose whole-image display or an approved crop | Equipment shape remains proportional |
| 1800 × 900 project panorama loses its entrance in a narrow card | Shape is correct but the important edge is outside the frame | Review focal position, card ratio or a separate approved mobile crop | Entrance remains visible at the tested widths |
| 320-pixel interface screenshot looks soft when enlarged | Actual downloaded file, rendered width and original detail | Provide an adequate source and suitable responsive candidates | Necessary interface details remain readable without excessive transfer |

## Fix geometry before compression

Divide the source width by its height to understand the natural ratio. A 1200 × 800 image has a 1.5 ratio; displaying the complete picture at 360 pixels wide gives a proportional height of 240 pixels. Forcing all of its content into a 360 × 360 square changes the geometry. This simple comparison is useful when a phone, face or product looks unusually thin or tall.

For an ordinary inline image, the maintainer can allow height to follow width. For a deliberately fixed frame, MDN distinguishes object-fit: contain, which preserves the whole image with possible empty space, from cover, which fills the frame by clipping edges. The fill value can distort when ratios differ. Choose according to the image's purpose; do not apply cover to every logo, screenshot or product diagram.

Inspect parent containers: fixed-height cards, grid stretch or a mismatched device frame can still constrain a correctly styled image. Repair the responsible component and check its other placements. A one-page override may only hide a shared defect.

## Decide what may be cropped

Cropping can be a deliberate design decision. The owner should identify what must remain visible: an entrance, product connection, logo clearance or meaningful part of a project. A beautiful desktop banner may place that detail near an edge that disappears in a narrow mobile frame. Moving the focal point can help, but sometimes the correct solution is a different approved crop or a less extreme frame.

Keep important explanatory text outside photographs where possible, especially when Arabic and English versions need different wording. Do not mirror a product, sign or website screenshot just because the page uses RTL. Review image composition independently from reading direction. The two languages can share a suitable master image while their surrounding layout and captions adapt naturally.

## Check which file the browser actually loads

A high-resolution original does not prove the website serves it. Inspect the selected URL and downloaded dimensions on the affected device. An old thumbnail, excessive compression or an inaccurate layout hint may explain the result. Compare the served file with the approved source before sharpening.

Responsive image markup can offer candidates through srcset and describe layout widths through sizes, while picture can support different image choices. Those mechanisms need to reflect the real layout. A nominal 360-pixel display on a dense screen may benefit from more source pixels, but there is no single file width that fits every placement, screen and connection. Test the actual result and transfer size together.

For a tiny screenshot, request the original export or rebuild from authorised source material. Enlarging it cannot recover missing detail. Also distinguish temporary placeholder softness from blur that persists after the final image loads.

## Preserve layout space and useful image context

Accurate intrinsic width and height help the browser reserve the appropriate space before an image loads. They can coexist with responsive CSS; they are not a request to stretch every screen to the source's pixel dimensions. Check loading behaviour too, so an important visible image does not appear unexpectedly late and push the surrounding content around.

Use descriptive filenames, meaningful alt text and relevant surrounding copy for informative images. Google recommends crawlable image markup and useful context, but changing an alt attribute does not improve the picture's resolution or prove image indexing. Describe what the image contributes in each language, without inserting a list of cities or unrelated services. Keep decorative treatment separate from factual captions.

## Review the images against the Saudi buyer's actual task

For a hypothetical Saudi Arabia supplier, an equipment photo used by Hofuf and Mubarraz customers within Al Ahsa may need the entire item visible to support a quotation. A Dammam or Khobar project image may need its actual access point preserved. These are reasons to choose framing deliberately, not to claim that one city's visitors require a different technical image format.

If Riyadh and Jeddah customers evaluate a remote service through website screenshots, preserve enough detail to understand the demonstrated feature. Use authentic approved work or clearly labelled illustrations, with accurate Arabic and English context. Biaway works online; repairing image presentation and explaining remote delivery must not imply photographed local offices, clients or projects that do not exist.

## Retest the component, not just one screenshot

Recheck the failing width, smaller and wider phones, and desktop in both languages. Confirm shape, focal detail, downloaded source, loading and readability, including other component placements. Record the served URL and release so cached files do not confuse the comparison.

Give the supplier a clear acceptance result: proportional equipment, visible entrance, readable screenshot and an acceptable file weight for its role. Retain the approved masters and responsive derivatives so later uploads follow the same rules. Ask Biaway to scope a focused image or component repair before commissioning a redesign; the evidence should determine whether the cause is layout, source quality or asset delivery.

## Your questions.

01

### Will a larger file fix a stretched phone mockup?

Not if the content is being forced into the wrong ratio. Correct the geometry first, then check whether the source has enough detail for the display size.

02

### Is object-fit: cover always the right choice?

No. It preserves proportions but can crop important edges. Whole-image display may be more suitable for logos, product specifications and screenshots.

03

### Can alt text make a blurry image rank higher?

Alt text describes useful image meaning; it does not repair resolution or guarantee ranking. Fix the visual source and delivery separately, then provide accurate context.

04

### What should I provide for an image repair?

Share the affected page, language, device or width, a screenshot of the problem and the original approved asset. State which detail must remain visible and whether cropping is allowed.

## Your next step

Share an affected page and its approved original image with Biaway to identify whether the repair belongs to the layout, crop, source resolution or responsive delivery.
